Managed File Transfer

Managed File Transfer: control critical file transfers

Managed File Transfer goes beyond one secure protocol. Bring critical flows, access, monitoring, logging, recovery and ownership into one manageable transfer chain.

In short

Managed File Transfer becomes relevant when loose scripts, accounts and agreements no longer provide reliable control. Examine the full chain: inventory, access, scheduling, monitoring, logging, recovery and continuity.

Signals

Signals that the current approach is becoming vulnerable

  • Nobody has a complete and current view of flows and dependencies.
  • Scripts or jobs depend on individual knowledge or shared accounts.
  • Failures are discovered only after a receiving party complains.
  • Logs exist but are neither central nor quickly searchable.
  • Migration must occur without disrupting critical windows or chain partners.
Process

Six parts of a manageable transfer chain

  1. 01

    Inventory

Flows, sources, destinations, owners, windows and dependencies.

  2. 02

    Identity and access

Personal administration, key and secret management, least privilege and periodic review.

  3. 03

    Orchestration

Scheduling, dependencies, naming, validation and exception handling.

  4. 04

    Monitoring and recovery

Detection, automated or human recovery and clear escalation.

  5. 05

    Logging and evidence

Usable audit trail, time synchronisation, protection and suitable retention.

  6. 06

    Continuity

Backup, failover, operating guide, chain tests and controlled fallback.

Boundary

MFT is not always necessary

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is SFTP insecure?

Not by definition. SFTP secures transport. The additional question is whether access, monitoring, logging, recovery and ownership are controlled across the chain.

Does MFT replace every integration?

No. MFT focuses on managed file transfer. APIs, messaging and other patterns may fit other data flows better.

Can you migrate without a big bang?

Often yes. Inventory, prioritisation, parallel testing, acceptance criteria and fallback make a phased route possible.

Does the scan prove compliance?

No. The scan organises risk and modernisation signals; it is not an audit or certification.

After contact

What happens after you get in touch

The first step is not automatically a quotation or technical implementation. The question is defined before deciding what is actually needed.

  1. 01

    Describe one concrete situation

Describe one process or file-transfer question. You do not need to know the solution, vendor or technology yet.

  2. 02

    Define the question first

The first assessment looks at the objective, current way of working, exceptions, risk and missing information — not immediately at a tool or quotation.

  3. 03

    Choose the appropriate next step

The route may be process improvement first, a scan or deeper assessment, a business case/technical discovery, or direct specialist discussion.

  4. 04

Bring in implementation only when it fits

If specialist technical delivery is needed, Korper ICT can be involved. This is not an automatic hand-off and no outcome is guaranteed in advance.
